Gimbap Story (by Lim's Kitchen): Reviews & Ratings
Love ordering the spicy tuna Gimbap, ingredients are nicely rolled together and don’t fall apart. Comes along a side of soup. Delivered fast through DoorDash.
A nice surprise for this neighborhood that's partly industrial, adjacent to Queensbridge housing, and near random hotels. While we found ourselves at the DoubleTree, Gimbap Story was a nice option for last minute dinner on our way back to the hotel. Spicy Tuna kimbap was tasty and sufficiently spicy. Included the usual instant miso soup. Their fried mandoo we're crispy and delicious. Ordering was quick and easy. They have limited seating there but takeout was convenient for our hotel nearby. Definitely recommend
we only did delivery. Gimbap has lot of filling so you get your moneys worth. Could use more sesame oil cuz the seaweed kim for kimbap was touch to chew through. Need a bit more seasoning on the rice or the filling.. it felt a bit flat but overall good quality and quantity
Excellent quiet place. Very friendly! Food is excellent! If you love Korean food, or want something new I highly recommend
The neighborhood where this place is located is not the safest, but when it comes to food, it is definitely worth a visit. The food is excellent: fresh ingredients, everything cooked with care and attention to detail. We tried the bibimbap: a classic mix of vegetables, meat, and a perfectly fried egg on top. The balance of flavors and textures was spot on. The shrimp fried rice was also great: aromatic, fluffy, and not greasy. The side dishes were impressive too: crispy rolls, nicely spiced sauce, and hot, flavorful soup. Portions are generous and everything is presented neatly. You can tell the kitchen here is made for people, not just to tick a box. If all you care about is food, this is an excellent spot. If the neighborhood worries you, getting takeout is a smart option.
This is more a take-out place. The Kimbap was really good—bonus points for not using so much rice like many other places do. The kimchi pancake was also good, though suggest to eat it asap to retain the crispiness.
We ordered the boneless fried chicken, egg pancakes, avocado vegan sushi, and a noodle entrée. The best item was the boneless fried chicken, which we had in the honey garlic sauce that was entirely mild with no heat. Next time, we might want to do a spicy sauce. The avocado vegan sushi was also very good. I would recommend getting this item, even if you’re not vegan, so that you can have more fresh vegetables. The seaweed wrap was very tasty and almost fragrant I would say. The noodle entrée was the least appetizing of everything that we ordered. I did appreciate that I could order from the menu on the touchscreen and didn’t have to have sitdown service. I would assume that most of the business here is take away and not any kind of dining on the sidewalk.
Good food, first time around the lady in front was sweet and helpful. Second time there was a gentleman that didn’t speak English. He led it to the kiosk; but be aware… they will charge you more on the kiosk for the food. Order directly or you’ll be charged extra on the kiosk. Food was awesome though.

In the heart of Long Island City, Gimbap Story (by Lim's Kitchen) offers a genuine taste of Korean comfort food that stands out in a neighborhood not typically known for culinary adventures. This modest spot at 38-70 10th St brings carefully crafted dishes designed for both dine-in and takeout, appealing especially to those who crave authenticity and quality.
The star of their menu, Lims Gimbap, is a delightful rendition of the classic Korean seaweed rice roll. Each bite reveals generous fillings that remain perfectly intact, a testament to the chef's precise rolling technique and fresh ingredients. The spicy tuna gimbap, in particular, strikes an ideal balance of heat and texture—fiery yet smooth, accented by the subtle saltiness of the seasoned rice and crispy seaweed wrap. Though some suggest a touch more sesame oil to soften the seaweed’s bite, this roll remains a satisfying and hearty experience, especially when paired with the warm, comforting side of miso soup they provide.
Another highlight is their Kimchi Fried Rice, which showcases an aromatic blend of tangy kimchi and savory, fluffy rice. The dish is well-seasoned without overpowering the palate, boasting a nuanced combination of spice and umami that Korean cuisine is known for. Customers also rave about the crispy fried mandoo, an excellent appetizer that pairs beautifully with the main dishes, adding crunch and a rich filling that complements the overall meal.
What impresses most is the care behind each dish—freshness shines through, and the kitchen’s attention to detail means well-balanced flavors and generous portions. These meals are not just food; they tell a story of tradition and culinary pride. Whether you're a local resident, a visitor staying nearby, or someone simply hungry for authentic Korean fare, Gimbap Story delivers a dependable and flavorful experience.
While the surroundings might give some pause, the quality of food here more than compensates. For those cautious about the area, opting for takeout is a smart choice that does not sacrifice any of the taste or portion sizes. Friendly service, speedy delivery, and thoughtful meal presentation round out an exceptional dining option that deserves a spot on your list.
In summary, Gimbap Story is a gem for Korean cuisine lovers in Queens, offering both classic comfort and a touch of culinary finesse, wrapped in strong, well-seasoned rolls and hearty, flavor-rich rice bowls. It’s a place where tradition meets convenience, satisfying cravings with every bite.
